About Boot Out Breast Cancer
My name is Debbie Dowie and I decided to set up a new charity in 2010 after I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in August 2009. I was one of the lucky ones, in that my cancer was discovered early and my prognosis was very good but I do realise that for some this is not the case.
I felt very fortunate that I had received such prompt care and attention but, the more I discussed my diagnosis and treatment, the more I became aware of just how many women receive this diagnosis each year. The NHS is in great need of the latest diagnostic equipment, so I decided to turn my experience with breast cancer into a positive one and Boot Out Breast Cancer was born.
I now have a team of 7 friends and we are all determined to make a difference. Each of us is committed to fundraising and to making sure that every penny raised is spent on some much needed equipment in the NHS. Our aim is to provide equipment for as many breast cancer units in NHS Hospitals as possible.
