About Boot Out Breast Cancer
My name is Debbie Dowie and I decided to set up a new charity in 2010 after I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in August 2009. I was one of the lucky ones, in that my cancer was discovered early and my prognosis was very good but I do realise that for some this is not the case.
I felt very fortunate that I had received such prompt care and attention but, the more I discussed my diagnosis and treatment, the more I became aware of just how many women receive this diagnosis each year. The NHS is in great need of the latest diagnostic equipment, so I decided to turn my experience with breast cancer into a positive one and Boot Out Breast Cancer was born.
I now have a team of close friends and we are all determined to make a difference. Each of us is committed to fundraising and to making sure that every penny raised is spent supporting new treatments, clinical trials and equipment for breast cancer in our NHS.
